On Sunday the 18th of March 18 the Federation held the national Dan examination for the spring.
It was only one kenshi that tested at this time and it was Lotta Wersäll from Shorinji Kempo Stockholm Södra Shibu who took her test for sandan (3 dan) chūkenshi.Lotta did very well and passed the test.Congratulations to Lotta.(mer…)
On Saturday the 17th of March the Federation organised a one day trainign camp for girls from 11 years old and up. The Federation sponsored with lunch and travel costs for all that had to travel to Stockholm.
On Saturday the 25th of March the Swedish Federation held it annual general meeting. Some of the people in the federation board had announced that they would not be up for re-election, so the election committee had to do some work to find their replacements. The ones resigning was Peter Thorvald, who has been our treasurer for many years and Peter Hansen who has served as our secretary for a long time. A big thank you for their efforts over the years. On Saturday the 20th ofFebruary we had a jointtraining dayfor those whoaresandan(3rd dan) or above.A so-calledkōdansha gōdōrenshū(which we alsocall “the veteran camps” sometimes).Six branches were represented and we had a total of 46dan attending.
It wasan intense day, with a lot oftechnique practiceas well as discussionsand exchange of experiencewithhow we conduct the trainingin our respective branches.
We had a couple of hours with intense training in the morning,followed bya lunchwhere therewas also a lot of discussions. The afternooncontinuedin the same way, and the day ended withsome much neededseihō.

On the 15th to 17th of May we had a Unity Koshukai (koshukai usually translates to “study session”). The official name of the camp was “Shorinji Kempo Unity Study Session Sweden 2015 – 少林寺 拳法 UNITY 講習会スウェーデン 2015. The first study session of this kind was held in Bromma last year and this year it was Karlstad’s turn to be the host. We had about 65 participants from Finland, UK, Russia, Germany, France, Italy and of course from Sweden. The instructors, who was appointed by our hombu (head quarters) in Japan, was Kaihoko-sensei and Fujii-sensei. (mer…)
